Barbell Deficit Deadlift
A deadlift performed while standing on a small platform, increasing the range of motion to build strength off the floor.
Equipment: Barbell
How to do it
- 1Stand on a platform (1-2 inches) with the bar over your mid-foot.
- 2Hinge down further than a standard deadlift to grip the bar, keeping your back flat.
- 3Brace your core and drive through the floor, keeping the bar close to your legs as you stand up.
Common mistakes
- Using a deficit that's too high before you have solid conventional deadlift form.
- Letting the back round to reach the lower starting position.
